该剧为十一集单元剧，剧集分别为《尸体》《圣女》《分离》《杀妻》（上、下集）《窒息》《花劫》（上、中、下集）《弑父》《芳踪》。 　　1977年，谭家明继《七女性》之后策划了另一个由他主导的片集系列《13》。命名《13》，是取西方文化里“十三不祥”之意；《13》每集独立，全部都是围绕凶杀、变态人物、不伦关係等偏锋题材。《13》原拟拍13集，但最终只拍了11集，全部由谭家明导演。 《13》是谭家明电视时期里较晚的作品（此后他只帮忙导演过一集《小人物》），他在形式与风格上的鍊炼在此可谓达致一个比较成熟的境界。例如《弑父》里可见他严谨地以推轨镜头贯穿全片的视觉风格，与及贯彻地控制著女主角陈玉莲的表演。值得一提的是，《13》也有一些鲜在谭家明身上见到的面貌。例如《尸体》写一对夫妇如何应对一个荒诞处境，便充满意料之外的黑色幽默，那种谐趣是几乎没有在谭家明的电影中出现过的。
